LinkedIn Posts That Don't Sound Like LinkedIn

30 August 2026 • Productivity

There's a very specific flavour of cringe that only LinkedIn can produce. "I'm thrilled to announce…" "Grateful for this journey…" "I wanted to share a quick reflection…" You know the ones. Everyone scrolls past them, and deep down everyone's a little embarrassed they've written one.

I used to write LinkedIn posts the same way. Stiff. Polished. Safe. The kind of post that says nothing and gets three likes from people who feel obliged.

Then I started dictating them with Wispr Flow, and something odd happened — they started sounding like me.

Here's what changed:

  • The "LinkedIn voice" disappears when you speak. When I type, I slip into corporate mode without noticing — bullet-point brains, buzzwords, "synergy". When I dictate, I talk the way I'd explain the idea to a friend at the pub. Turns out that's exactly what LinkedIn's algorithm (and its readers) actually rewards.
  • Drafts take two minutes, so I post more. My old process: stare at the blinking cursor for an hour, write one post, feel drained, repeat in two weeks. New process: I dictate three scrappy drafts on my walk to the shop, pick the best one, and clean it up in ten minutes. Posting twice a week went from a chore to a habit.
  • Comment replies stopped being a time sink. The quick replies — "love this, what was your process?" — used to stack up until they felt like admin work. Now I answer them out loud while making coffee. It sounds human because it is, and the people you reply to are the ones who remember you.

The weirdest result: my engagement went up, sure — but the real win is that people started replying with substance. "This actually made me think." You can't fake that with hashtags. When a post reads like a person said it, people treat it like a person said it.

If LinkedIn feels like a chore you keep putting off, try this: next idea you have, don't open the app. Just say it out loud into Wispr Flow — one rambling, unpolished minute. Then read what came out. I bet it's better than anything you would have typed.

Try Wispr Flow — free month of Pro, and your next post drafts itself while you walk the dog.

Day 16 of dictating everything. My LinkedIn finally sounds like me, not a press release.
