I Research My Fortune & Folly TikToks by Talking to Myself. Wispr Flow Makes It Usable.

I get my best Fortune & Folly ideas when I'm not trying to have them.

Walking to the shop. Making coffee. Reading some wild story about a founder who burned $20M on Super Bowl ads and thinking: that needs to be a TikTok.

For months, that meant one of two things happened. Either I stopped what I was doing, thumbed out a half-broken note on my phone, and lost the thread. Or I told myself "I'll remember that" — and I never did.

Now I just talk.

When something clicks, I hit Wispr Flow and dictate the research note raw: the hook I'm feeling, the story beat, the numbers I half-remember, the take I want to land on. No formatting. No stopping to fix typos. Just thinking out loud for 60 seconds.

Last week it was this: "Okay Fortune and Folly idea, that guy who turned down a billion dollar buyout for his energy drink company, I think it was Monster, no wait, check that, need to verify who, but angle is ego versus empire, folly or genius, open with what would you do if someone offered you a billion dollars..."

Messy? Completely. But Wispr Flow cleaned it up into actual punctuation, actual paragraphs, with the names and numbers intact. When I sat down to script later, I wasn't starting from a blank page. I was starting from my own thinking, already captured.

That's the shift: I research in voice now, and write from the transcript.

Here's my stupid-simple workflow:

  • Voice-dump the idea the second it hits — hook, story, angle
  • Let Wispr Flow format it while I keep living my life
  • Paste the clean note into my TikTok research doc that night
  • Script from the note in half the time

Result? I'm banking 3-4 usable video concepts a week instead of 1. No lost ideas. No awkward "what did I mean by 'energy drink billion lol'" notes at midnight.

If you create content and your best thinking happens away from your keyboard, stop fighting it. Talk it out and let the tool do the typing.

I use Wispr Flow for all of it. Try it here: https://ref.wisprflow.ai/hector-wheatley

Your next video is probably already in your head. Just say it.
