I Write a Blog Post Every Day Without Touching My Keyboard

27 August 2026 • Productivity

I run a blog about living on Bitcoin. That means I publish a lot of writing — and most of it used to happen the same way it does for everyone else: hunched over a keyboard, deleting half of what I typed, fighting with the sentence until it sounded robotic.

Then I realised something stupid: I think in full sentences. I talk in full sentences. The only reason my writing sounded stiff is that I was typing it.

So I stopped typing. I started dictating with Wispr Flow.

How it works for me:

  • The messy draft comes out of my mouth, not my fingers. I just talk through the article like I'm explaining it to a friend. The first pass is ugly and that's the point — it's a draft, it's supposed to be.
  • Editing happens after, not during. This is the big one. When you type, you edit as you go — backspace, rephrase, delete. That's where all the time goes and where all the personality dies. With Wispr, the words land on the page in my actual voice, rhythm and all. Then I do one pass of tightening instead of five of rewriting.
  • My writing actually sounds like me now. People who read the blog say it reads like I talk. That's because it is — literally.

The numbers: A 700-word post used to take me over an hour, most of it fighting myself. Now I dictate the first pass in about ten minutes while I'm walking or making coffee, and spend twenty minutes shaping it. Same output, a third of the time, twice the personality.

The funny thing is I didn't even start this to be more productive. I started it because typing was making my writing worse. The time saving was the bonus.

If you write anything regularly — a blog, a newsletter, client emails — try it. Talk your first draft instead of typing it. You'll be surprised how much better it sounds.

Day 14 of dictating everything. My keyboard is starting to feel like a typewriter — nostalgic, but I wouldn't go back.
