Voice Cloning — £700 in 2026 So Far

Ever since the introduction of voice cloning on ElevenLabs, I’ve been receiving payments each week. It was slow at first, but it has gradually increased. I’ve now made £700 completely passively in 2026 so far.

Today, I’m breaking down how much I’ve made from each of my voices this year.

How it works

Imagine if you were an actor and you rented out an AI version of yourself to be in a movie, and received a payment each time your face was shown, or your likeness was used. That’s exactly the model that is in use here. Each day, hundreds of people license my voice, and I get paid for every 1000 characters spoken.

What’s in it for ElevenLabs?

ElevenLabs wants to be the gold standard for AI voices. One of their biggest advantages is offering unique voices from the community. Most competitors have a small set of voices — ElevenLabs has built a massive library of thousands. They make money when people use your voice; they just pay you a portion of it. The user gets more choices, you get paid, and ElevenLabs makes money. Win-win-win.

How to do it yourself?

If you’re interested, here’s the simple process. Each account costs a one-time fee of $13 (inc VAT), but as you’ll see, most of my voices have already covered that cost many times over.

  1. Subscribe to ElevenLabs — You need the Creator tier (at least for the first month).
  2. Use a decent mic — A Blue Yeti or similar with a pop filter works well.
  3. Record 30+ minutes of audio — I used Audacity and a book I was reading. The more the better (ElevenLabs recommends up to 3 hours for best results).
  4. Add your voice to the marketplace — There’s a simple toggle to allow commercial use.
  5. Connect your Stripe account — Then just wait to get paid.

How much have I made this year so far?

I currently have 7 voices live. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Voice 1 (Original): £320
  • Voice 2: £145
  • Voice 3: £98
  • Voice 4: £67
  • Voice 5: £42
  • Voice 6: £18
  • Voice 7: £10

Total: £700

Not bad for completely passive income.
